Life is full of unexpected changes. Kia works with clients to reflect on their sense of being and discover opportunities
for growth and healing during major changes including: changes in career or education, re-entry into the community after incarceration, death of a loved one or pet and relationship issues.

 
 
 

Sexual and Gender Identity

Helping LGBTQIA+ people to come to a consensual, comfortable, and self-accepting place with their sexual and/or gender identity - no matter where they are in the process. Letters of support for clients seeking gender-affirming medical care available upon evaluation.

 
 
 

Trauma and Violence

Support for survivors of violence including: childhood trauma and abuse (complex PTSD), crime, community violence, physical assault, sexual abuse.​ Kia works with clients to understand a traumatic event as well as process associated feelings and memories so that they may experience recovery and growth.

 
 
 

Health & Caregiving Concerns

Helping clients navigate stress and adjustment from chronic illness, care transitions, medical trauma, injury, surgery and major procedures. Kia provides support for family and professional caregivers to prevent burnout, compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma.

Direct Client Services


Intro Call | Consultation

 

An opportunity for Kia to get to know more about the client and their goals. This is also the client’s opportunity to learn about the therapist’s process.

Clinical Assessment
Initial Appointment

 

This initial meeting is a time where Kia will explore the client’s history, needs, goals, and strengths to develop a treatment plan. Also known as an intake or diagnostic evaluation.

Therapy Session

 

In depth sessions allowing client’s and Kia to work towards treatment goals, cope with a recent change or manage a crisis.

Group Therapy Session

 

These session are for small groups of five to ten people where groups can meet weekly with Kia to talk about their shared problems and goals. Groups may focus on a specific topics and issues such as: anger, loss, self-esteem or skills such as: mindfulness and socialization.

Clients are asked to cancel or reschedule appointments within 24 hours of their scheduled session time.
Missed or Late Cancellation of an Appointment will be charged $55/session.

Support for social workers seeking preparation for licensure in the state of North Carolina.

Consultations

 

Ongoing and one-time consultation meetings with Kia for health/wellness professionals wanting to manage stress and to build skills as they work with clients experiencing trauma from violence or injury.

These sessions provide support for program managers and private practitioners in developing organizational documents, forms, short-term goals, and long-term strategic plans.

Kia is currently an in-network provider for the following North Carolina Insurances:

  • Blue Cross Blue Shield

  • Evernorth (Cigna)

  • Humana

  • United Health (Optum)

  • Medicare.

Please mention during your initial consultation if you would like to use your insurance.

Kia is not currently in-network with insurances in the District of Columbia.

Out of Network
Psychotherapy services are typically eligible for reimbursement by health insurance. If you have an insurance plan that we do not accept, the practice will accept self-pay and will provide you with a receipt of payment to attach to your insurance company’s claim form.
